Blumberg Associates Architecture creates space that uplifts Atlantic County, New Jersey.

1970s
Atlantic City in the 1970s was an urban center in decline. The firm designed Gordon’s Alley which became the first pedestrian mall in New Jersey recycling several abandoned building into retail and offices.  During this period the firm started its decade long relationship transforming Gardner’s Basin into a maritime park culminating with the design of the Ocean Life Education Center.

1980s
With the advent of casino gambling the firm helped many local communities prepare for growth. For Atlantic County, the firm master planned a Government Services Center in Atlantic City and designed several buildings including the Atlantic County Office Building and Atlantic City Library attached via an atrium, as well as an addition to the Civil Court Building. These buildings continue to achor the area in which the firm later designed projects for Atlantic Community College.

1990s
Atlantic City High School takes design cues from the surrounding marshes and bay incorporating intricate brickwork capped with blue windows and undulating roofs to create an inspirational learning environment.

2000s
Vibrant colors, interesting shapes and purposeful patterns make New York Avenue School “bold and invigorating” stated a design award. High-performance, exterior coatings on industrial metal panels allowed the building to fit into a tight budget while maximizing a fun and purposeful learning environment.

2010s
Segments of rail lines obtained in Bialystok Poland used to move victims to concentration camps are incorporated into the design of the entrance of Stockton University’s Holocast Center creating an emotional anchor at the entrance for this thoughtful resource center.

2020s
Projects underway for completion are interesting residential and commercial developments that solve design and space problems for clients.

Architectural Practice

The firms attention to construction techniques since its founding over 50 years ago produces timeless design. The firm solves budgetary, site and use case needs for clients and occupants. The firm has been noted for Outstanding Architecture by organizations including the New Jersey – American Institute of Architects, American Association of School Administrators and the National Association of Homebuilders.

Blumberg Associates designed over a billion dollars of projects. Remarkably, the firms track record of less than 1% change orders is testament to hands on design management. Experienced principals view each commission as a partnership over the lifetime of each project — from concept, construction and throughout the building’s operational lifecycle.

Founder

Martin F. Blumberg, AIA PE PP is a graduate of Cornell University. Throughout his career “Marty” has been involved in many professional and community endeavors to help the region his family has been involved with for several generations. He has served as Chairman of the Atlantic County Planning Board and President of the South Jersey Society of Architects. He has served as Chairman of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Family Service Association. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and was honored to receive Community Leadership awards from organizations such as the Conference of Christains and Jews, the Institute for Human Development and the Salvation Army.
